Care Bear

In this class children learn through play, spending time outside on the playground, singing, dancing, and creating crafts. The curriculum focuses on colors, numbers, basic shapes, and various topics like animals and weather. We promote good manners, sharing, and taking turns. The program develops fine and gross motor skills, encourages creativity, and fosters a love for exploring and learning about the world.

Koala Bear

The classroom promotes independence, helps strengthen self- help skills and boosts self- confidence. The Koala Bears learn through play, art and craft stations, sensory play and outdoor exploration. The curriculum focuses on letters, sounds, and numbers, with a rotating weekly theme. The goal is to inspire a love of learning and ignite the imagination.

Teddy Bear

In the Teddy Class children are immersed in language. There is an emphasis on pre-reading skills. Besides learning basic phonetic principles children are exposed to quality literature seeding the beginning of a lifetime love of books. We encourage curiosity and inquiry-based learning. Hands-on science experiments, building, sensory and light exploration play a large role in our Teddy classroom.

At The Church by the Sea School, we recognize the profound impact of early childhood experiences on long-term success. Research consistently underscores the importance of fostering a balance between structured learning environments and quality family time, particularly during the preschool years. Our part-time preschool program is intentionally designed to provide children with the best of both worlds: enriching educational opportunities and the priceless benefits of family bonding.

Studies show that increased time spent with parents during early childhood profoundly shapes a child’s emotional security, cognitive growth, and social abilities. Engaging in meaningful activities with caregivers helps lay the foundation for academic achievement, strong interpersonal skills, and emotional resilience. In addition, children gain the chance to explore their natural curiosity and creativity in a loving, supportive environment.

Our program also acknowledges the unique advantages of part-time preschool attendance. Research published in the Journal of Early Childhood Research highlights that part-time programs, complemented by active family engagement, result in developmental outcomes comparable to full-day programs. These benefits are amplified when children spend their remaining time with family, where they receive personalized attention and unconditional love.

Furthermore, organizations like the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) emphasize that unstructured family time fosters the development of resilience and empathy—qualities critical to long-term well-being and success in an increasingly complex world. By allowing children the time to bond with their parents, siblings, and extended family, we create opportunities for deeper connections and a strong emotional foundation.

To support families further, our optional extended playtime program provides flexibility for parents while ensuring that children continue to enjoy safe, nurturing, and stimulating activities. This approach honors the needs of today’s busy families while keeping the well-being and holistic development of children at the center of everything we do.  At The Church by the Sea School, we are more than a preschool; we are partners in your child’s journey of growth and discovery, working together to build a bright, balanced future.
