Pastor's Weekly Email

Dear Friends,

We had a wonderful Sunday yesterday. The Holy Spirit was moving all around us, connecting us to Him and each other. We had a great day celebrating our faith in Christ, all the men in our church and just being together. I hope each one of you will watch the service online, if you were not able to be there physically. God is doing some great things among us and we get the privilege and honor of experiencing it firsthand.

I hope you all will take some time this week to thank God for all that is going on. I know we have struggles, but God will and can show us His great love through all of life's twists and turns. Have a great week and God bless!

In His Grip,
Chris

Sermon Recap

The sermon title was "Refuge" and the scripture was Psalm 91. God wants to be our refuge. A place where we go for security, peace, and protection! Everyone needs a place of refuge!

Dear Friends,

It was another great day of worshipping together yesterday. We had our "summer choir" back and they sounded amazing! It is great to be free to worship the way we enjoy and feel God is calling us to. If any of you have any desire to sing please join the choir this Sunday. You just show up at 9am and Chris Kane will take care of the rest. It is a wonderful way to give back to God in worship by giving your gift of song to Him and us. I invite you all.

Summer is fully here with the temperature high and traffic pretty crazy. Each Sunday I am excited to be with you all and have the opportunity to share what I hope is a word, or two from God. God has called us all to know Him and to make Him known. I hope our worship challenges you, encourages you, and calls you to action. Please pray for God's guidance as we work through all of our hurts, frustrations, and victories over the "COVID" year which has been a difficult year.

Don't forget Father's Day is this coming Sunday. Celebrate all the men who have come alongside you and lifted you up.

Have a great week and God bless!

In His Grip,
Chris

Sermon Recap

The sermon title was "The Less Than Perfect Church" and the scripture was I Corinthians 1:10-13, 3:1-9. The church can be a place of healing, wholeness, and support but it can also be a place of hurt, rejection, and shame because people are in charge. People who fail, people who are..."less than perfect" and with that comes issues. God chooses to use us to bring about His kingdom! Let's all pray to be more like Jesus.

Dear Friends,

What a wonderful morning of worship we had yesterday (June 6th). It is so great to see everyone and sharing life with each other - MASKLESS and smiling! During these difficult "valley" days I have seen God be so faithful. God tells us over and over in His Word that "I am with you and be not afraid". That is truth. As you experience the tough days and the great days please know that we are all here in this same boat of life. Together, as we strive to follow Christ in that we can "do all things". We can walk hand-in-hand, praying for each other, and be there for each other as Christ calls us. Don't grow weary in doing good as the scriptures tell us.

We have a summer planned of growth. I challenge you all to join us for our Bible studies. On Tuesday mornings at 11am - the Zoom ID is 819 9607 5732. Please feel free to pop in at your convenience! Also, on Wednesday nights we have a Bible study at 6:30pm in the Green Room. If you are here this summer please pray about joining us. We would love to have you with us.

**Please let's all wish Randy Starr a Happy Birthday today!**

Have a great week and God bless!

In His Grip,
Chris

Sermon Recap

The sermon title was "Growing Down Gracefully" and the scripture was Ecclesiastes 12:1 and Philippians 4:4-13. We talk about growing up but let's grow down. We share stories of "back in the day" but let's share stories of what's happening now. What memories are you making with God now not when you were younger but now - whatever age you are. You can celebrate your age whatever it may be. Today is the day.

Dear Friends,

I hope you all had an amazing Memorial Weekend. I hope you had a chance to relax, reflect and remember! I also hope you took some time to be grateful. Grateful to God for all He has done, grateful for giving us Jesus and grateful to all those men and women who gave their lives so we can be free. Being a grateful person is almost a lost art these days. Let's all pray for God to strengthen us and guide us to be more grateful.

I am excited about all that God will do with us this summer. Please pray with me as we all seek God's face. Have a blessed day.

Dear Friends,

Happy Monday to you!! It is another beautiful day here in South Florida. I hope you all have started off your week with spending some time alone praying, reading, and listening to God speak. Our worship yesterday was our first Sunday with "mask optional" and it was breath-taking! The whole dynamic changed being able to see people's faces. We also had our first "Patio Time" and again, it was wonderful. I am so excited about all that God is doing with our Session, Corporate Board, and with our whole church family. As we continue to love and serve Him - He will guide our steps and we will see amazing things. I look forward to seeing you all back in worship and invite your friends as well. Let's make this a summer to remember.

Sermon Recap

The sermon title was "The Power" and the scripture was Acts 1:6-8 and 2:1-4. This past Sunday was Pentecost. Pentecost is the day the Church celebrates God giving us the third member of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. It is also the birthday the church. When God gave us the Holy Spirit - God gave us "POWER"!! Power to walk our talk and live our lip. May we all live in Christ and allow God's power to guide us.

Dear Friends,

Happy first Monday in May! It has been just amazingly beautiful with the rain, the bright sunshine, the morning and evening temperatures that are not too hot, and the perfect weather to come to church. Yesterday, we had a wonderful day of worship. We had over 40 children in Sunday school and 112 people in worship. God's Spirit is moving all around us and I am so grateful that we can have worship in person. This Sunday, Mother's Day, we are having children in worship and then they come down for our time together on the steps like we used to do. After Children's Time is when they leave for Sunday school. The Children's ministry is selling butterflies to be released after worship as well. Butterflies are $10 each and can be purchased here...https://event-39187-a1f3.pushpayevents.com/

May 16th is our Youth/Graduate Sunday. Our middle and high school students will be greeters and leading worship for us. We will also be honoring our high school, college, and anyone else who is getting a degree. If you have someone graduating please contact the church office by Wednesday! After worship, the youth group will be welcoming our current 5th graders for a beach cookout and hang out time. Please contact Jen White at ftlaudteacher@bellsouth.net if they would like to attend, or be involved in Youth Sunday.

Have a great week and God bless!

In His Grip,
Chris

Sermon Recap

The sermon title was "Rats in the Cellar" and the scripture was Jeremiah 29:11-14 and Romans 7:15-25. It is tough to live the Christian life. The things we do not want to do, we do and the things we want to do, we do not. We all struggle and the Apostle Paul asks the question, "Who will rescue me from this state?" He answers in v. 25, "JESUS CHRIST!" Allow Jesus Christ's love and grace to shed light on the areas you struggle with and give you the strength to move forward.

Dear Friends,

Easter was so refreshing and last Sunday continued with God's Spirit moving in and around us. I hope if you are not able to join us in person that will you watch online on our YouTube channel (The Church By The Sea). God is doing a great thing here as we do our best to worship and continue becoming more and more like Him.

We have had some great leadership meetings with our Corporate Board last Sunday. I look forward to them in the near future presenting some of the challenges and amazing ways we, as this family of faith, can work together to accomplish God's vision for this church. Also, our Session has been praying and asking God how we can best serve Him in our worship and through our various ministries! You all will be hearing from both teams in service some time soon. I am excited about all that God is doing here through them as well as through you all...For we all are apart of God's family! Have a great week and God bless!

Chris

Sermon Recap

The sermon title was "Lose It to Find It" and the scripture was Matthew 16:24-27. Lose yourself in Christ to find yourself. Seem a bit backwards, but Christ came to flip our hearts right-side up!! Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Him.

Dear Friends,

What a wonderful Palm Sunday service we had yesterday! Our worship service was full and it felt like God's Spirit was drawing us all closer to Him and to each other. It is a wonderful feeling to be in worship together! Worship was amazing and so was our educational wing! Our leading team, Marie, Jackie, Michele Most, Marcy Torres, and Jennifer White, transformed our Sunday school area to 1st century Jerusalem. Families came together to experience Jesus' last week on earth. What a great opportunity for families to grow in their knowledge and love. Thank you also to all of our youth volunteers, set-up team and Kevin White for cooking for everyone, and our talented actors who made this experience come to life!

I hope everyone of us will make time to pray, to be still, and to read God's Word as you take in all that this week means. God so loved the world that He gave...

Sermon Recap

The sermon title was "The Whisper Test" and the scripture was Luke 8:26-39 and 1 Peter 2:9-10. Who are you and whose are you? Two penetrating questions that are as old as time. Who defines who you are? It is Jesus Christ!

Dear Friends,

I have a little challenge for you all...make some time this week to watch last Sunday's worship on our YouTube channel - The Church By The Sea.  It was moving.  We confirmed 7 teenagers, we had our 3rd mission moment, and God's Presence was all-throughout the service.  We also installed a new camera and audio system which everyone has said is a tremendous step up.

We have a lot of things happening here at CBTS as we open up more and more.  Our Corporate Board met on March 14th and one of the items they would like to see is an inventory of the gifts our church possesses.  We know our congregation is full of amazing individuals that have all been blessed with unique talents and abilities. While not all of us may have the time to serve in a leadership capacity for CBTS, we believe that each one of us can serve by sharing our expertise where needed. Just as compound interest leads to greater gains, combining the individual expertise of our church members will lead to a significant impact for God's kingdom. To that end, we would like to ask you to complete this form to find out what expertise we do have in the congregation. Please use the following link to select your general area of expertise and type in your specific area of expertise in the box below. We promise you will only be contacted should a need arise.

Sermon Recap

The sermon title was "The Twelfth Man" and the scripture was Isaiah 6:1-8 and Luke 22:24-27. God is calling us to serve and to be ready to serve at a moments notice. God doesn't call the equipped, God equips the called. Let's all be willing to say like Isaiah, "Here I am, send me".

Dear Friends,

What another great day of worship. I am so grateful that we are able to have worship and that God is moving in and out of it. When I say, "God is moving" I mean in our music, in our fellowship, and in our hearts! This was week two of our Mission's Month and we had Ted Jagusztyn and Bill Harvey share about our our ministry with the Seafarer's that come in and out of Port Everglades and with Natik, For the next 2 weeks we will be highlighting the other ministries we support with our time and talent. To better understand these missions and support them please download our App - The Church By The Sea. We have a lot going for you to be involved with, so lets go!

This Sunday we will be confirming Jack and Grace Finneran, Lily Griffin, Brennan Ayres, Sophie Falcone, Raegan Zalman, and Lindsay White. This is a special time for them, their families, and for us, their church family!
